The St Xavier’s institution is amongst the oldest and most widely recognised institutions of higher learning in the country. It is one of the oldest colleges in India and the most popular one in Mumbai. It is affiliated to the University of Mumbai and is known for its smart curriculum. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council has appreciated the college for its excellent efforts to maintain and improve quality of education and has awarded it an A+ grade. The college makes a preferential option for the marginalised and it seeks to give an all-round formation, inculcating both human and spiritual values. The main college library has a vast collection of over 1,20,000 volumes, some of which date back to the 16th century. Their junior college set in the beautiful Victorian Campus in CST is a charming throwback to those hallowed temples of learning of old. Little needs to be said about the vibrant extra-curricular scene at the Xaviers Campus. Xavierites also swear by their much written-about canteen. Add to this the host of teenage hang-out hot spots in the vicinity and the trifling distance from the CST station, all of which make Xaviers an ideal place to enjoy your junior college years.
